Ceramic Industry in India is about 100 years old. The total domestic production in this segment is around 200 million sq metre per annum, which is about 2.5 per cent of world ceramic tile production. The organised sector has a production share of around 56 per cent and the unorganised sector, 44 per cent. It is expected that in the future, this industry will witness a growth of almost 15 per cent p.a.

For the last 6-7 years, the sanitary ware industry in India has shown dramatic growth with major players doubling their production capacity. This industry has been growing by about 8 per cent per annum during the last two years.

Given the vast potential of growth in this important sector, CII is organizing Ceramics & Sanitaryware Expo 2008 at Ahmedabad from 19-21 December 2008 to showcase the progress made, deliberate the potential opportunities and challenges facing the industry and to create a roadmap for sustainable growth and development.
